The Buddy Holly Story

The Buddy Holly Story at Peabody Opera House

Why see The Buddy Holly Story?

rave on!

One of the true pioneers of rock & roll, Buddy Holly's life was cut tragically short by an airplane crash in 1959, when he was only 22. It may have been the day the music died, but Holly left behind him an incredible catalogue of hits that would influence generations of artists who followed in his wake.

Chronicling his all-too short career, The Buddy Holly Story opens with Holly still a bespectacled unknown, playing his controversial new style of rock 'n' roll in Lubbock, Texas. Written by Alan Janes, the musical follows his rise to stardom by way of over twenty of his best known tracks, including 'That'll Be the Day,' 'Peggy Sue,' 'Raining in My Heart,' 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore,' and 'Rave On!'

It was like an attack on the ears and mind. attack to the ears. ... Read more
