And who better to create the show than his own daughter, Ty James? Working alongside Je' Caryous Johnson, James created what is sure to be the most faithful adaptation of the R&B legend's life. Rick James was born in Buffalo, New York in 1948. A sticky situation and a lucky rescue later, James was on stage as part of The Mynah Birds. After a briefly turbulent time, James went on to start his iconic solo career delivering hits such as Give It To Me Baby and Mary Jane, and the rest is history.
