10 Stars in St. Louis
Been waiting 30 years to see them, and it was worth the wait. I expected it to be really good, but they far exceeded my expectations. CH's voice and energy is INCREDIBLE, and the amazing JW's lead guitar was on fire. The crowd (mostly gray hairs no less) stood and rocked the entire show - there was no way to stay seated with the Pretender's sizzling energy and perfect sound. I've been a big fan of live music for 50 years (yes I'm 67) and have seen just about everything. They are among the best live bands I've ever seen, and hope they return to St. Louis soon. Don't miss them.
Pretenders Still Rock
My wife and I saw The Pretenders for the first time at the Peabody in STL July 18, 2018. They were FABULOUS!!! Chrissy looks, GREAT! Her voice is as strong as ever and so unique. We loved her stage presence as she rocked it with her style, moves, guitar slung low, crowd interaction etc. The band is VERY tight and RED HOT. The lead guitarist and drummer are amazing! That guitarist is unbelievably fast and furious! The opening act, THE RAILS, were awesome too (same guitar player only on acoustic). We loved the set list but wished they would have played longer. Our only complaint is we spent the money to sit in the 4th row and the entire crowd stood during the whole show which is a compliment to to band, but it sure would have been nice to be able to sit down and see from the 4th row. Way to go CHRISSY! Hope you come back to STL soon?
Christie Hynde Pretenders
If you get a chance to see the Pretenders; just do it! Her voice is amazing! The show is non stop entertainment! I go to a lot of concerts and this is one you do not want to miss! Love the Uptown and Hamburger Mary’s!
Pretenders rock MGM Music Hall
I saw and heard the Pretenders last night July, 19, 2024 at the new MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The band and Chrissie are tight and accomplished, no need to work it too hard, they don't have to making even the fastest demanding stuff look workmanlike. Chrissie's guitar, voice, and stage presence are top of her game. Maybe less passionate than setting out to prove something but 100% able to prove anything. She lets her young excitable boy guitarist take the speed lane but notice the stage as she often is standing dead center with a lot of distance. This is a wom in control and on top of her game. As she has said in the past "we're kind of a Pretenders tribute band." And she and the band did not fail to deliver. Two encores.... felt a little like the audience had to work too hard but... they came back and poured it on. The venue is simply outstanding. I do not think there's a bad seat in the house. I was on main floor and it was either stand with the crowd or cease to view. Great show!
MGM Boston
A great rock band. An awesome venue for music. Chrissy Hine’s voice has not changed beautiful!!!
Rocking
I saw them last night outdoors at Tanglewood and they were awesome-- better than the last time I saw them in Worcester in 1983. Chrissie Hynde sounds like she's about 25, never better. Maybe it was the thunderstorm that started the concert off, but their energy level was off the charts. Not a lot of stage prattle, just one hard rocking song after another. "Ohio" was great. Go see it!
