The crazy musical comedy is horror-licious!
What do you get when you cross a Hammer horror movie with the comedy of Mel Brooks? Well, this would be the zany, chaotic result! Young Frankenstein is the musical based on Brook's celebrated 1974 comedy movie , a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein tale that could only come from one warped mind. When the estranged scion of the infamous dynasty returns to claim his fortune, old family ties prove rather hard to ignore - especially when he meets his late grandfather's weird companions...
With this unlikely trio of new friends comprising hunchbacked side-kick Igor (pronounced Eye-gore), a yodelling leggy lab assistant Inga and an old housekeeper, Frau Blucher (whose name terrifies horses for miles around), Frederick decides to finish the Great Work that his grandfather started, succeeding in creating a Monster. Of course, said Monster is pretty much on a thirst for destruction, and rampages through the castle, rousing the attention of the Transylvanian villagers!
A rowdy, bawdy comedic farce, the action is supplemented by some memorable tunes including Welcome to Transylvania, Life, Life and of course, Puttin' On The Ritz" and is perfect for newcomers to Brooks' tongue -in-cheek comedy.
