"IMPOSSIBLE" TO CHANGE A CLASSIC

Perhaps, I am old school, but I thought the production was sub-par. There are certain elements of a classic that, if you mess with them too much, you ruin the story. A big part of what makes the show so magnificent is the beautiful gowns and, of course the glass slipper. Big FAIL. Call it what you like, but making it "relevant" ruined it in my opinion and I am fairly sure seeing the steady flow of people leaving early...I am not alone.

REALLY BAD

Holy hell this was the worst rendition of Cinderella I have ever seen. Been to better high school plays than this -> 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend

OLD STEP SISTERS

The costumes and wigs were reminiscent of the hunger games, this did not flow with the other costumes of the peasants. The video of the dragon, and other monster creatures were very disappointing, they couldn't get the shrek costume out?!? This is a play not a video. And to have the step sister (an older lady not a young one that you would imagine) to do the floss on top of it all! Very disappointed in all but Bennett, she did her character well and has a great voice. The play in all wouldnt have been worthy of a high school stage.

THE ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT...

Going to the Muny is always a treat and the highlight of my summer. The whole experience with recent updates - fans, orchestra area, and now the stage make the Muny a great venue for gathering with family or friends. We found Peno’s on Wydown and had a wonderful pizza before the show. Great service and food, reservations recommended. As the show goes....I can count on one hand the number of duds I have seen over the years (season ticket holder for several years in the past) at the Muny. This definitely was one of them. The costumes on stage paled to those of the young girls sitting around us. Songs were lackluster considering the subject of a fairy tale romance. Well maybe not, considering there really was no romance. Social injustice and a woman with an agenda really never were romantic - and since this is what the takeaway was of this tale - it really was a totally different story. Is it really wrong to dream of romance and falling head over heels in love? This play was doomed as a result of thinking so! So sad. Hope not to see more remakes along these lines.
