The once and future King
Lerner and Lowe's 1960 classic will be putting up its round table at The Muny for the first time in 13 years this June. Based on the enduring legend of King Arthur and his Round Table, this four-time Tony Winner features a lush and evocative score from the duo, along with plenty of romance, magic, and chivalry.
What is the story?
Enchanting generations since its Broadway debut in 1960, we follow Arthur as he marries the maiden Guinevere and introduces a code of honor and justice to his Knights, bringing peace to the Kingdom. But not everyone is as keen to adhere to his idealism. Divisions soon follow, and not just from outside the castle walls. Courage, fidelity, love, and goodness are to be tested, and it is up to Arthur to choose the kind of ruler he must be.
